(7) Creator formed earthling from the dust of the earth and blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and earthling came to life.

(ח) וַיִּטַּ֞ע יְהוָ֧ה אֱלֹהִ֛ים גַּן־בְעֵ֖דֶן מִקֶּ֑דֶם וַיָּ֣שֶׂם שָׁ֔ם אֶת־הָֽאָדָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָצָֽר׃
(8) Creator God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and placed there an earthling whom It had formed.


(ח) דְּהָא כַּד אִתְבְּרֵי אָדָם, מֵעַפְרָא דְּמַקְדְּשָׁא דִּלְתַתָּא אִתְתַּקַּן וְאַרְבַּע סִטְרֵי דְּעָלְמָא, אִתְחַבְּרוּ בְּהַהוּא אֲתָר דְּאִקְרֵי בֵּי מַקְדְּשָׁא. וְאִינּוּן אַרְבַּע סִטְרִין דְּעָלְמָא, אִתְחַבְּרוּ בְּאַרְבַּע סִטְרִין, דְּאִינּוּן יְסוֹדִין דְּעָלְמָא, אֵ''ש רוּ''חַ וְמַיִ''ם וְעָפָ''ר, וְאִתְחַבְּרוּ אַרְבַּע סִטְרִין
(8) For when Adam was created, it was composed of the earth of the terrestrial Temple, which is Malchut that is called earth, though it is Malchut sweetened by Binah, which is called the earth of the terrestrial Temple. And the four directions of the world were joined to that place called the Temple. These four directions joined in four aspects, which are the elements, fire, air, water and earth, and the four directions joined the four elements.

(א) אִלֵּין מַתָּכָאן אַחֲרָנִין, דְּדַמְיָין לוֹן. (כגונא דאלין) תָּא חֲזֵי. אֵ''ש רוּ''חַ וְמַיִ''ם וְעָפָ''ר, אִלֵּין אִינּוּן קַדְמָאֵי וְשָׁרָשִׁין דִּלְעֵילָּא וְתַתָּא, וְתַתָּאִין וְעִלָּאִין עָלַיְיהוּ קַיְּימִין. וְאִלֵּין אִינּוּן אַרְבַּע, לְאַרְבַּע סִטְרֵי עָלְמָא, וְקַיְּימִין בְּאַרְבַּע אִלֵּין: צָפוֹ''ן, וְדָרוֹ''ם, וּמִזְרָ''ח, וּמַעֲרָ''ב. אִלֵּין אִינּוּן אַרְבַּע סִטְרִין דְּעָלְמָא, וְקַיְּימִין בְּאַרְבַּע אִלֵּין. אֵ''ש לִסְטַר צָפוֹ''ן. רוּ''חַ לִסְטַר מִזְרָ''ח. מַיִ''ם לִסְטַר דָּרוֹ''ם. בְּגִין דְדָרוֹם חָם וְיָבֵשׁ מָיִם קָרִים וְלַחִים עָפָ''ר לִסְטַר מַעֲרָ''ב. וְאַרְבַּע אִלֵּין, בְּאַרְבַּע אִלֵּין קְטִירִין, וְכֻלְּהוּ חַד, וְאִלֵּין עַבְדֵי אַרְבַּע מַתָּכָאן, דְּאִינּוּן זָהָ''ב וָכֶסֶ''ף וּנְחֹשֶׁ''ת וּבַרְזֶ''ל הָא אִינּוּן תְּרֵיסָר, וְכֻלְּהוּ חַד.
(1) in these four. Under these, there are other similar metals. Come and see, fire, air, water and earth are the first ones and the roots above and below; upper and lower beings are based on them. These four - fire, air, water and earth correspond to the four directions, are situated in these four - north, south, east and west which are the four directions, and the four elements abide in them. Fire to the north side. Air is to the east side. Water is to the south side. Earth is to the west. And these four - fire, air, water and earth are connected to the four - north, south, east and west. And they are all one. And these produce four metals, which are gold, silver, brass and iron. And together there are twelve aspects, and are all one, namely three Columns and Malchut that receives them. And they are thus three times four, because the first eight are inner and outer, and the four metals are produced by them, as shall be said.
(א) וַיְהִ֣י ׀ בִּשְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֗ה בָּֽרְבִיעִי֙ בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֣ה לַחֹ֔דֶשׁ וַאֲנִ֥י בְתֽוֹךְ־הַגּוֹלָ֖ה עַל־נְהַר־כְּבָ֑ר נִפְתְּחוּ֙ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וָאֶרְאֶ֖ה מַרְא֥וֹת אֱלֹהִֽים׃ (ב) בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֖ה לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ הִ֚יא הַשָּׁנָ֣ה הַחֲמִישִׁ֔ית לְגָל֖וּת הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ יוֹיָכִֽין׃ (ג) הָיֹ֣ה הָיָ֣ה דְבַר־יְ֠הוָה אֶל־יְחֶזְקֵ֨אל בֶּן־בּוּזִ֧י הַכֹּהֵ֛ן בְּאֶ֥רֶץ כַּשְׂדִּ֖ים עַל־נְהַר־כְּבָ֑ר וַתְּהִ֥י עָלָ֛יו שָׁ֖ם יַד־יְהוָֽה׃ (ד) וָאֵ֡רֶא וְהִנֵּה֩ ר֨וּחַ סְעָרָ֜ה בָּאָ֣ה מִן־הַצָּפ֗וֹן עָנָ֤ן גָּדוֹל֙ וְאֵ֣שׁ מִתְלַקַּ֔חַת וְנֹ֥גַֽהּ ל֖וֹ סָבִ֑יב וּמִ֨תּוֹכָ֔הּ כְּעֵ֥ין הַחַשְׁמַ֖ל מִתּ֥וֹךְ הָאֵֽשׁ׃ (ה) וּמִ֨תּוֹכָ֔הּ דְּמ֖וּת אַרְבַּ֣ע חַיּ֑וֹת וְזֶה֙ מַרְאֵֽיהֶ֔ן דְּמ֥וּת אָדָ֖ם לָהֵֽנָּה׃ (ו) וְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה פָנִ֖ים לְאֶחָ֑ת וְאַרְבַּ֥ע כְּנָפַ֖יִם לְאַחַ֥ת לָהֶֽם׃ (ז) וְרַגְלֵיהֶ֖ם רֶ֣גֶל יְשָׁרָ֑ה וְכַ֣ף רַגְלֵיהֶ֗ם כְּכַף֙ רֶ֣גֶל עֵ֔גֶל וְנֹ֣צְצִ֔ים כְּעֵ֖ין נְחֹ֥שֶׁת קָלָֽל׃ (ח) וידו [וִידֵ֣י] אָדָ֗ם מִתַּ֙חַת֙ כַּנְפֵיהֶ֔ם עַ֖ל אַרְבַּ֣עַת רִבְעֵיהֶ֑ם וּפְנֵיהֶ֥ם וְכַנְפֵיהֶ֖ם לְאַרְבַּעְתָּֽם׃ (ט) חֹֽבְרֹ֛ת אִשָּׁ֥ה אֶל־אֲחוֹתָ֖הּ כַּנְפֵיהֶ֑ם לֹא־יִסַּ֣בּוּ בְלֶכְתָּ֔ן אִ֛ישׁ אֶל־עֵ֥בֶר פָּנָ֖יו יֵלֵֽכוּ׃ (י) וּדְמ֣וּת פְּנֵיהֶם֮ פְּנֵ֣י אָדָם֒ וּפְנֵ֨י אַרְיֵ֤ה אֶל־הַיָּמִין֙ לְאַרְבַּעְתָּ֔ם וּפְנֵי־שׁ֥וֹר מֵֽהַשְּׂמֹ֖אול לְאַרְבַּעְתָּ֑ן וּפְנֵי־נֶ֖שֶׁר לְאַרְבַּעְתָּֽן׃
(1) In the thirtieth year, on the fifth day of the fourth month, when I was in the community of exiles by the Chebar Canal, the heavens opened and I saw visions of God. (2) On the fifth day of the month—it was the fifth year of the exile of King Jehoiachin— (3) the word of the LORD came to the priest Ezekiel son of Buzi, by the Chebar Canal, in the land of the Chaldeans. And the hand of the LORD came upon him there. (4) I looked, and lo, a stormy wind came sweeping out of the north—a huge cloud and flashing fire, surrounded by a radiance; and in the center of it, in the center of the fire, a gleam as of amber. (5) In the center of it were also the figures of four creatures. And this was their appearance: They had the figures of human beings. (6) However, each had four faces, and each of them had four wings; (7) the legs of each were [fused into] a single rigid leg, and the feet of each were like a single calf’s hoof; and their sparkle was like the luster of burnished bronze. (8) They had human hands below their wings. The four of them had their faces and their wings on their four sides. (9) Each one’s wings touched those of the other. They did not turn when they moved; each could move in the direction of any of its faces. (10) Each of them had a human face [at the front]; each of the four had the face of a lion on the right; each of the four had the face of an ox on the left; and each of the four had the face of an eagle [at the back].


(יג) (חמש שלש אותיות מן הפשוטות חתם רום ברר שלש וקבען בשמו הגדול יה"ו. וחתם בהם שש קצוות) [הנוסחא הנכונה: בירר ג' אותיות מן הפשוטות בסוד ג' אמות אמ"ש וקבען בשמו הגדול וחתם בהם ו' קצוות, חמש חתם רום] ופנה למעלה וחתמו ביה"ו. שש חתם תחת ופנה למטה וחתמו ביו"ה. שבע חתם מזרח ופנה לפניו וחתמו בהי"ו. שמנה חתם מערב ופנה לאחריו וחתמו בהו"י. תשע חתם דרום ופנה לימינו וחתמו בוי"ה. עשר חתם צפון ופנה לשמאלו וחתמו בוה"י:
(13) He selected three letters from the simple ones, and sealed them as forming his great Name, Yud, Hei, Waw, and he sealed the universe in six directions. Fifth, He looked above, and sealed the height, with Yud-Hei-Waw. Sixth, He looked below, and sealed the deep, with Yud-Waw-Hei. Seventh, He looked forward, and sealed the East, with Hei-Yud-Waw. Eighth, He looked backward, and sealed the West, with Hei-Waw-Yud. Ninth, He looked to the right, and sealed the South, with Waw-Yud-Hei. Tenth, He looked to the left, and sealed the North, with Waw-Hei-Yud.


(א) וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה וְאֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֖ן לֵאמֹֽר׃ (ב) אִ֣ישׁ עַל־דִּגְל֤וֹ בְאֹתֹת֙ לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֔ם יַחֲנ֖וּ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל מִנֶּ֕גֶד סָבִ֥יב לְאֹֽהֶל־מוֹעֵ֖ד יַחֲנֽוּ׃ (ג) וְהַחֹנִים֙ קֵ֣דְמָה מִזְרָ֔חָה דֶּ֛גֶל מַחֲנֵ֥ה יְהוּדָ֖ה לְצִבְאֹתָ֑ם וְנָשִׂיא֙ לִבְנֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה נַחְשׁ֖וֹן בֶּן־עַמִּינָדָֽב׃ (ד) וּצְבָא֖וֹ וּפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם אַרְבָּעָ֧ה וְשִׁבְעִ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְשֵׁ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃ (ה) וְהַחֹנִ֥ים עָלָ֖יו מַטֵּ֣ה יִשָּׂשכָ֑ר וְנָשִׂיא֙ לִבְנֵ֣י יִשָּׂשכָ֔ר נְתַנְאֵ֖ל בֶּן־צוּעָֽר׃ (ו) וּצְבָא֖וֹ וּפְקֻדָ֑יו אַרְבָּעָ֧ה וַחֲמִשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃ (ס) (ז) מַטֵּ֖ה זְבוּלֻ֑ן וְנָשִׂיא֙ לִבְנֵ֣י זְבוּלֻ֔ן אֱלִיאָ֖ב בֶּן־חֵלֹֽן׃ (ח) וּצְבָא֖וֹ וּפְקֻדָ֑יו שִׁבְעָ֧ה וַחֲמִשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃ (ט) כָּֽל־הַפְּקֻדִ֞ים לְמַחֲנֵ֣ה יְהוּדָ֗ה מְאַ֨ת אֶ֜לֶף וּשְׁמֹנִ֥ים אֶ֛לֶף וְשֵֽׁשֶׁת־אֲלָפִ֥ים וְאַרְבַּע־מֵא֖וֹת לְצִבְאֹתָ֑ם רִאשֹׁנָ֖ה יִסָּֽעוּ׃ (ס) (י) דֶּ֣גֶל מַחֲנֵ֧ה רְאוּבֵ֛ן תֵּימָ֖נָה לְצִבְאֹתָ֑ם וְנָשִׂיא֙ לִבְנֵ֣י רְאוּבֵ֔ן אֱלִיצ֖וּר בֶּן־שְׁדֵיאֽוּר׃ (יא) וּצְבָא֖וֹ וּפְקֻדָ֑יו שִׁשָּׁ֧ה וְאַרְבָּעִ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃ (יב) וְהַחוֹנִ֥ם עָלָ֖יו מַטֵּ֣ה שִׁמְע֑וֹן וְנָשִׂיא֙ לִבְנֵ֣י שִׁמְע֔וֹן שְׁלֻמִיאֵ֖ל בֶּן־צוּרִֽי־שַׁדָּֽי׃ (יג) וּצְבָא֖וֹ וּפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם תִּשְׁעָ֧ה וַחֲמִשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וּשְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃ (יד) וְמַטֵּ֖ה גָּ֑ד וְנָשִׂיא֙ לִבְנֵ֣י גָ֔ד אֶלְיָסָ֖ף בֶּן־רְעוּאֵֽל׃ (טו) וּצְבָא֖וֹ וּפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם חֲמִשָּׁ֤ה וְאַרְבָּעִים֙ אֶ֔לֶף וְשֵׁ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת וַחֲמִשִּֽׁים׃ (טז) כָּֽל־הַפְּקֻדִ֞ים לְמַחֲנֵ֣ה רְאוּבֵ֗ן מְאַ֨ת אֶ֜לֶף וְאֶחָ֨ד וַחֲמִשִּׁ֥ים אֶ֛לֶף וְאַרְבַּע־מֵא֥וֹת וַחֲמִשִּׁ֖ים לְצִבְאֹתָ֑ם וּשְׁנִיִּ֖ם יִסָּֽעוּ׃ (ס) (יז) וְנָסַ֧ע אֹֽהֶל־מוֹעֵ֛ד מַחֲנֵ֥ה הַלְוִיִּ֖ם בְּת֣וֹךְ הַֽמַּחֲנֹ֑ת כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר יַחֲנוּ֙ כֵּ֣ן יִסָּ֔עוּ אִ֥ישׁ עַל־יָד֖וֹ לְדִגְלֵיהֶֽם׃ (ס) (יח) דֶּ֣גֶל מַחֲנֵ֥ה אֶפְרַ֛יִם לְצִבְאֹתָ֖ם יָ֑מָּה וְנָשִׂיא֙ לִבְנֵ֣י אֶפְרַ֔יִם אֱלִישָׁמָ֖ע בֶּן־עַמִּיהֽוּד׃ (יט) וּצְבָא֖וֹ וּפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם אַרְבָּעִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃ (כ) וְעָלָ֖יו מַטֵּ֣ה מְנַשֶּׁ֑ה וְנָשִׂיא֙ לִבְנֵ֣י מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה גַּמְלִיאֵ֖ל בֶּן־פְּדָהצֽוּר׃ (כא) וּצְבָא֖וֹ וּפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם שְׁנַ֧יִם וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וּמָאתָֽיִם׃ (כב) וּמַטֵּ֖ה בִּנְיָמִ֑ן וְנָשִׂיא֙ לִבְנֵ֣י בִנְיָמִ֔ן אֲבִידָ֖ן בֶּן־גִּדְעֹנִֽי׃ (כג) וּצְבָא֖וֹ וּפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם חֲמִשָּׁ֧ה וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃ (כד) כָּֽל־הַפְּקֻדִ֞ים לְמַחֲנֵ֣ה אֶפְרַ֗יִם מְאַ֥ת אֶ֛לֶף וּשְׁמֹֽנַת־אֲלָפִ֥ים וּמֵאָ֖ה לְצִבְאֹתָ֑ם וּשְׁלִשִׁ֖ים יִסָּֽעוּ׃ (ס) (כה) דֶּ֣גֶל מַחֲנֵ֥ה דָ֛ן צָפֹ֖נָה לְצִבְאֹתָ֑ם וְנָשִׂיא֙ לִבְנֵ֣י דָ֔ן אֲחִיעֶ֖זֶר בֶּן־עַמִּֽישַׁדָּֽי׃ (כו) וּצְבָא֖וֹ וּפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם שְׁנַ֧יִם וְשִׁשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וּשְׁבַ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃ (כז) וְהַחֹנִ֥ים עָלָ֖יו מַטֵּ֣ה אָשֵׁ֑ר וְנָשִׂיא֙ לִבְנֵ֣י אָשֵׁ֔ר פַּגְעִיאֵ֖ל בֶּן־עָכְרָֽן׃ (כח) וּצְבָא֖וֹ וּפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם אֶחָ֧ד וְאַרְבָּעִ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃ (כט) וּמַטֵּ֖ה נַפְתָּלִ֑י וְנָשִׂיא֙ לִבְנֵ֣י נַפְתָּלִ֔י אֲחִירַ֖ע בֶּן־עֵינָֽן׃ (ל) וּצְבָא֖וֹ וּפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם שְׁלֹשָׁ֧ה וַחֲמִשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃ (לא) כָּל־הַפְּקֻדִים֙ לְמַ֣חֲנֵה דָ֔ן מְאַ֣ת אֶ֗לֶף וְשִׁבְעָ֧ה וַחֲמִשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְשֵׁ֣שׁ מֵא֑וֹת לָאַחֲרֹנָ֥ה יִסְע֖וּ לְדִגְלֵיהֶֽם׃
(1) Creator spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying: (2) The Israelites shall camp each with his standard, under the banners of their ancestral house; they shall camp around the Tent of Meeting at a distance. (3) Camped on the front, or east side: the standard of the division of Judah, troop by troop. Chieftain of the Judites: Nahshon son of Amminadab. (4) His troop, as enrolled: 74,600. (5) Camping next to it: The tribe of Issachar. Chieftain of the Issacharites: Nethanel son of Zuar. (6) His troop, as enrolled: 54,400. (7) The tribe of Zebulun. Chieftain of the Zebulunites: Eliab son of Helon. (8) His troop, as enrolled: 57,400. (9) The total enrolled in the division of Judah: 186,400, for all troops. These shall march first. (10) On the south: the standard of the division of Reuben, troop by troop. Chieftain of the Reubenites: Elizur son of Shedeur. (11) His troop, as enrolled: 46,500. (12) Camping next to it: The tribe of Simeon. Chieftain of the Simeonites: Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai. (13) His troop, as enrolled: 59,300. (14) And the tribe of Gad. Chieftain of the Gadites: Eliasaph son of Reuel. (15) His troop, as enrolled: 45,650. (16) The total enrolled in the division of Reuben: 151,450, for all troops. These shall march second. (17) Then, midway between the divisions, the Tent of Meeting, the division of the Levites, shall move. As they camp, so they shall march, each in position, by their standards. (18) On the west: the standard of the division of Ephraim, troop by troop. Chieftain of the Ephraimites: Elishama son of Ammihud. (19) His troop, as enrolled: 40,500. (20) Next to it: The tribe of Manasseh. Chieftain of the Manassites: Gamaliel son of Pedahzur. (21) His troop, as enrolled: 32,200. (22) And the tribe of Benjamin. Chieftain of the Benjaminites: Abidan son of Gideoni. (23) His troop, as enrolled: 35,400. (24) The total enrolled in the division of Ephraim: 108,100 for all troops. These shall march third. (25) On the north: the standard of the division of Dan, troop by troop. Chieftain of the Danites: Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai. (26) His troop, as enrolled: 62,700. (27) Camping next to it: The tribe of Asher. Chieftain of the Asherites: Pagiel son of Ochran. (28) His troop, as enrolled: 41,500. (29) And the tribe of Naphtali. Chieftain of the Naphtalites: Ahira son of Enan. (30) His troop, as enrolled: 53,400. (31) The total enrolled in the division of Dan: 157,600. These shall march last, by their standards.

Rabbi Yoḥanan said: One moves them to and fro to dedicate them to the One Whom the four directions Belong. One raises and lowers them to the One Whom the heavens and earth belong. In the West, Eretz Yisrael, they taught it as follows. Rabbi Ḥama bar Ukva said that Rabbi Yosei, son of Rabbi Ḥanina, said: One moves them to and fro in order to request a halt to harmful winds, storms and tempests that come from all directions; one raises and lowers them in order to halt harmful dews and rains that come from above.

(א) אַהֲבָה רַבָּה אֲהַבְתָּנוּ, ה' אֱלהֵינוּ. חֶמְלָה גְּדולָה וִיתֵרָה חָמַלְתָּ עָלֵינוּ: אָבִינוּ מַלְכֵּנוּ. בַּעֲבוּר אֲבותֵינוּ שֶׁבָּטְחוּ בְךָ. וַתְּלַמְּדֵם חֻקֵּי חַיִּים כֵּן תְּחָנֵּנוּ וּתְלַמְּדֵנוּ: אָבִינוּ הָאָב הָרַחֲמָן. הַמְרַחֵם. רַחֵם עָלֵינוּ. וְתֵן בְּלִבֵּנוּ לְהָבִין וּלְהַשכִּיל. לִשְׁמעַ. לִלְמד וּלְלַמֵּד. לִשְׁמר וְלַעֲשות וּלְקַיֵּם אֶת כָּל דִּבְרֵי תַלְמוּד תּורָתֶךָ בְּאַהֲבָה: וְהָאֵר עֵינֵינוּ בְּתורָתֶךָ. וְדַבֵּק לִבֵּנוּ בְּמִצְותֶיךָ. וְיַחֵד לְבָבֵנוּ לְאַהֲבָה וּלְיִרְאָה אֶת שְׁמֶךָ. וְלא נֵבושׁ לְעולָם וָעֶד: כִּי בְשֵׁם קָדְשְׁךָ הַגָּדול וְהַנּורָא בָּטָחְנוּ. נָגִילָה וְנִשמְחָה בִּישׁוּעָתֶךָ: וַהֲבִיאֵנוּ לְשָׁלום מֵאַרְבַּע כַּנְפות הָאָרֶץ. וְתולִיכֵנוּ קומְמִיּוּת לְאַרְצֵנוּ: כִּי אֵל פּועֵל יְשׁוּעות אָתָּה. וּבָנוּ בָחַרְתָּ מִכָּל עַם וְלָשׁון. וְקֵרַבְתָּנוּ לְשִׁמְךָ הַגָּדול סֶלָה בֶּאֱמֶת: לְהודות לְךָ וּלְיַחֶדְךָ בְּאַהֲבָה: בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ה', הַבּוחֵר בְּעַמּו יִשרָאֵל בְּאַהֲבָה:
(1) [With] a great love have You loved us, Lord, our God; [with] a great and superabundant compassion have You had compassion upon us. Our Father, our King - for the sake of our fathers who trusted in You and You taught them the laws of life; so [too] grace us and teach us. Our Father, the merciful Father, the merciful One - have mercy upon us, and put into our hearts to understand and to comprehend and to listen and to study and to teach and to keep and to do and to preserve all of the words of the study of Your Torah with love. And enlighten our eyes in Your Torah, and make our heart cling to Your commandments, and unite our hearts to love and fear Your name; and may we never be embarrassed ever. Since we have trusted in Your great and awesome holy Name, let us rejoice and be gladdened by Your salvation. And bring us in peace from the four corners of the Earth, and lead us erectly to our Land; as You are God who preforms salvations. And You have chosen us from among all nations and languages, and have brought us close to Your great name forever in truth, to praise You and unify You with love. Blessed are You, Lord, who chooses His people, Israel, with love.

כְּשֵׁם שֶׁבָּרָא הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא אַרְבַּע רוּחוֹת וּכְנֶגְדָן אַרְבָּעָה דְּגָלִים, אַף כָּךְ סִבֵּב לְכִסְאוֹ אַרְבָּעָה מַלְאָכִים מִיכָאֵל וְגַבְרִיאֵל וְאוֹרִיאֵל וּרְפָאֵל. מִיכָאֵל בִּימִינוֹ כְּנֶגֶד רְאוּבֵן... אוּרִיאֵל מִשְֹּׂמֹאלוֹ כְּנֶגֶד דָּן שֶׁהוּא בַּצָּפוֹן... גַּבְרִיאֵל מִלְּפָנָיו כְּנֶגֶד מַלְכוּת יְהוּדָה וּמשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן שֶׁהָיוּ בַּמִּזְרָח... רְפָאֵל, כְּנֶגֶד אֶפְרַיִם שֶׁהוּא בַּמַּעֲרָב
As the Holy One blessed be He created four winds (directions) and four banners (for Israel's army), so also did He make four angels to surround His Throne—Michael, Gabriel, Uriel and Raphael. Michael is on its right, corresponding to the tribe of Reuben (south)... Uriel on its left, corresponding to the tribe of Dan, which was located in the north ... Gabriel in front, corresponding to the tribe of Judah as well as Moses and Aaron who were in the east; and Raphael in the rear, corresponding to the tribe of Ephraim which was in the west.

בְּשֵׁם יְהֹוָה אֱלֺהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל
מִימִינִי מִיכָאֵל
וּמִשְּׂ֒מֹאלִי גַבְרִיאֵל
וּמִלְּ֒פָנַי אוֹרִיאֵל
וּמֵאֲחוֹרַי רְפָאֵל
וְעַל רֹאשִי שְׁכִינַת אֵל:
In the Name of Yah, God of Israel:
at my right is Michael,
and at my left Gabriel,
and before me Uriel,
and behind me Raphael,
and above my head, the Presence of Shekhina.
