The officers of YAVNEH have long felt the need for bringing modern religious sources to the attention of the membership. In an attempt to offer at least a partial solution to this problem, the Natiional Executive Board has invited a number of members of the Jewish communitu to contribute a series of essays dealing with a philosophical problem in the weekly parasha. Each contributor has worked independently of the others and each essay represents his understanding of the assignment. The essays were sent out in groups of three or four in mimeographed form as the parasha became current and then republished in five series of booklets on each of the five books of the Torah.
The officers and editor would like to express publically their thanks and appreciation to all those who contributes towards this project. They invite the readers to comment on the project and to suggest further publication series.

YAVNEH STUDIES IN PARASHAT HASHAVUA, edited by Joel B. Wolowelsky, was a 1969-72 project of YAVNEH: THE RELIGIOUS JEWISH STUDENTS ASSOCIATION.
