A Moment of Hebrew

God said to Moshe, “Go up the mountain of Avarim and view the land that I have given to Benei Yisrael.”
לִרְאוֹת lir’ot (שֹׁרֶשׁ ר.א.ה)
  • To see
  • To understand
מַרְאָה (mar'ah) = Mirror
רְאוּת (re'ut) = Visibility
רְאָיָה (re’ayah) = Proof, evidence
לְהִתְרָאוֹת (lehitraot) = Goodbye, see you later
רוֹאֶה אֶת הַנּוֹלָד (ro'eh et ha-nolad) = To see the consequences of your actions
Find the Word!
  • The first example of seeing in the Torah is not through human eyes! Can you find our שֹׁרֶש (shoresh, root) in Bereishit 1?
  • The process of diagnosing the skin disease צָרַעַת (tzara’at) has a lot to do with what the כֹּהֵן (kohen, priest) sees. How many times does our shoresh appear in Vayikra 13? (Hint: It’s more than 25 times!)
