(40) The length of time that the Israelites lived in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years;(41) at the end of the four hundred and thirtieth year, to the very day, all the ranks of יהוה departed from the land of Egypt.(42) That was for יהוה a night of vigil to bring them out of the land of Egypt; that same night is יהוה’s, one of vigil for all the children of Israel throughout the ages.(43) יהוה said to Moses and Aaron: This is the law of the passover offering: No foreigner shall eat of it.(44) But any householder’s purchased male slave may eat of it once he has been circumcised.(45) No bound or hired laborer shall eat of it.(46) It shall be eaten in one house: you shall not take any of the flesh outside the house; nor shall you break a bone of it.(47) The whole community of Israel shall offer it.(48) If a male stranger who dwells with you would offer the passover to יהוה, all his males must be circumcised; then he shall be admitted to offer it; he shall then be as a citizen of the country. But no uncircumcised man may eat of it.(49) There shall be one law for the citizen and for the stranger who dwells among you.(50) And all the Israelites did so; as יהוה had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.(51) That very day יהוה freed the Israelites from the land of Egypt, troop by troop.
Chapter 13 (1) יהוה spoke further to Moses, saying,(2) “Consecrate to Me every male first-born; human and beast, the first [male] issue of every womb among the Israelites is Mine.”(3) And Moses said to the people,“Remember this day, on which you went free from Egypt, the house of bondage, how יהוה freed you from it with a mighty hand: no leavened bread shall be eaten.(4) You go free on this day, in the month of Abib.(5) So, when יהוה has brought you into the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which was sworn to your fathers to be given you, a land flowing with milk and honey, you shall observe in this month the following practice:(6) “Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a festival of יהוה.(7) Throughout the seven days unleavened bread shall be eaten; no leavened bread shall be found with you, and no leaven shall be found in all your territory.(8) And you shall explain to your child on that day, ‘It is because of what יהוה did for me when I went free from Egypt.’(9) “And this shall serve you as a sign on your hand and as a reminder on your forehead—in order that the Teaching of יהוה may be in your mouth—that with a mighty hand יהוה freed you from Egypt.(10) You shall keep this institution at its set time from year to year.

(40) Now the sojourning of the children of Yisra᾽el, who dwelt in Miżrayim, was four hundred and thirty years. (41) And it came to pass at the end of four hundred and thirty years, even on that very day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Miżrayim. (42) It is a night of watchfulness to the Lord for bringing them out from the land of Miżrayim: this is the Lord’s watchnight, for all the children of Yisra᾽el in their generations. (43) And the Lord said to Moshe and Aharon, This is the ordinance of the passover: no stranger shall eat of it: (44) but every man’s servant that is bought for money, when thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat of it. (45) A foreigner and a hired servant shall not eat of it. (46) In one house shall it be eaten: thou shalt not take any of the meat outside, out of the house; neither shall you break a bone of it. (47) All the congregation of Yisra᾽el shall keep it. (48) And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat of it. (49) One Tora shall be to him that is homeborn, and to the stranger that sojourns among you. (50) Thus did all the children of Yisra᾽el; as the Lord commanded Moshe and Aharon so they did. (51) And it came to pass on that selfsame day, that the Lord did bring the children of Yisra᾽el out of the land of Miżrayim by their hosts.
Chapter 13 (1) And the Lord spoke to Moshe, saying, (2) Sanctify to me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Yisra᾽el, both of man and of beast: it is mine. (3) And Moshe said to the people, Remember this day, in which you came out from Miżrayim, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place: no leavened bread shall be eaten. (4) This day you came out, in the month Aviv. (5) And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of the Kena῾ani, and the Ḥitti, and the Emori, and the Ḥivvi, and the Yevusi, which he swore to thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month. (6) Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a feast to the Lord. (7) Unleavened bread shall be eaten for seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall leaven be seen with thee in all thy borders. (8) And thou shalt relate to thy son on that day, saying, This is done because of that which the Lord did to me when I came out of Miżrayim. (9) And it shall be for a sign to thee upon thy hand, and for a memorial between thy eyes, that the Lord’s Tora may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand did the Lord bring thee out of Miżrayim. (10) Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in its season from year to year.
