(א) אל המפתן. כמו על המפתן וכן ויך את הפלשתי אל מצחו כמו על והמפתן היא האסקופא התחתונה רק דגון נשאר עליו אמרו כי דגון מטבורו ולמטה היה צורת דג לפיכך נקרא דגון ומטבורו ולמעלה צורת אדם כמו שאמר ושתי כפות ידיו כרותות אל המפתן וזהו פירושו רק דגון נשאר עליו צורת דג נשאר עליו וי"ת לחוד גופיה דדגון אשתאר עלוהי:
... for Dagon had the form of a fish (dag) from his navel down and was therefore called Dagon, and from his navel up he had the form of a man, as it says "his two hands were cut off on the threshhold"..
הדולפנין פרין ורבין כבני אדם מאי דולפנין אמר רב יהודה בני ימא
The dulfanin reproduce like people. The Gemara asks: What are dulfanin? Rav Yehuda says: They are creatures that are called sons of the sea.
דָּבָר אַחֵר, לָמָּה ה' יֶחֱרֶה אַפְּךָ בְּעַמֶּךָ, מָשָׁל [לטפסר] לְמֶלֶךְ שֶׁנִּכְנַס לְבֵיתוֹ וּמָצָא אִשְׁתּוֹ מְגַפֶּפֶת לְדֶלְפְּקִי, וְכָעַס, אָמַר לוֹ שׁוֹשְׁבִינוֹ אִם הָיָה מוֹלִיד יָפֶה הָיִיתָ כּוֹעֵס. אָמַר לוֹ [הטפסר] הַמֶּלֶךְ אֵין בּוֹ כֹּחַ לְדָבָר זֶה אֶלָּא לְלַמְּדָהּ שֶׁלֹא תַעֲשֶׂה כָּךְ.
"Why, O' God should You kindle Your anger with Your people?" - A Parable: A king entered his home and found his wife embracing a delphini and was enraged. His attendant said to him, If they could make children it would make sense to get angry [but they cannot, so why are you angry]. The king replied, It doesn't matter if they can reproduce, rather I must teach her not to act in this way.
(י) וְכֹל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר אֵֽין־ל֜וֹ סְנַפִּ֣יר וְקַשְׂקֶ֗שֶׂת בַּיַּמִּים֙ וּבַנְּחָלִ֔ים מִכֹּל֙ שֶׁ֣רֶץ הַמַּ֔יִם וּמִכֹּ֛ל נֶ֥פֶשׁ הַחַיָּ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּמָּ֑יִם שֶׁ֥קֶץ הֵ֖ם לָכֶֽם׃
(10) But anything in the seas or in the streams that has no fins and scales, among all the swarming things of the water and among all the other living creatures that are in the water—they are an abomination for you
(ז) [ז] 'חיה' – זו חית הים; 'הנפש' – להביא את הסרנית. יכול תהיה מטמא באהל כדברי ר' חנינא? תלמוד לומר (במדבר יט, יד) "זאת...".
(7) 7) (Vayikra 11:10) "And all that do not have fins and scales in the seas and in the rivers, of every creeping thing of the waters, and of every living (chayah) creature of the waters that is in the waters — they (hem) are detestable to you.") "chayah" — this is the sea-animal. "creature (nefesh)" — to include (as forbidden) the siren (half-human, half-fish). I might think that it causes tent-tumah according to R. Chanina b. Chachinai; it is, therefore written (Bamidbar 19:14): "This (is the Torah: a man (i.e., a whole man) if he die in a tent, etc.")
