וְהָא אָמַר רַבִּי יוֹחָנָן: בַּתְּחִלָּה הוּא אוֹמֵר: ״ה׳ שְׂפָתַי תִּפְתָּח״, וּלְבַסּוֹף הוּא אוֹמֵר: ״יִהְיוּ לְרָצוֹן אִמְרֵי פִי והגיון לבי לפניך, ה' צורי וגואלי׳״!
Didn’t Rabbi Yoḥanan say: At the beginning of prayer, one says: “Lord, open my lips, that my mouth may declare Your glory” (Psalms 51:17), and at the end of prayer one says: “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable before You, Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer” (Psalms 19:15).
... כֵּיוָן דְּקַבְעוּהָ רַבָּנַן בִּתְפִלָּה — כִּתְפִלָּה אֲרִיכְתָּא דָּמְיָא.
Since the Sages instituted this verse in prayer, it is considered as an extended prayer.
יכול יהא משמיע קולו בתפלתו פירש בחנה (שמואל א א) וחנה היא מדברת על לבה [רק שפתיה נעות וקולה לא ישמע.]
I would have thought that [a person] should pray [Shmoneh Esreh] in a loud voice. [However] it explains by Chana, “and Chana is talking to her heart [only her lips are moving and her voice is not heard” (I Samuel 1:13)
סֵדֶר בְּרָכוֹת, אוֹמֵר אָבוֹת וּגְבוּרוֹת וּקְדֻשַּׁת הַשֵּׁם... וְאוֹמֵר עֲבוֹדָה וְהוֹדָאָה וּבִרְכַּת כֹּהֲנִים, דִּבְרֵי רַבִּי יוֹחָנָן בֶּן נוּרִי.
The order of the blessings : One recites the blessing of the Ancestors, the blessing of God’s Mighty Deeds, and the blessing of the Sanctification of God’s Name...and at the end one recites the service, thanks giving and the priestly blessing, these are the words of Rabbi Yohanan ben Nuri.
הַתּוֹרָה כֻּלָּהּ שָׁלוֹם, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (משלי ג, יז): דְּרָכֶיהָ דַרְכֵי נֹעַם וְכָל נְתִיבוֹתֶיהָ שָׁלוֹם. וְאִם בָּא אָדָם מִן הַדֶּרֶךְ שׁוֹאֲלִין לוֹ שָׁלוֹם, וְכֵן שַׁחֲרִית שׁוֹאֲלִין לוֹ שָׁלוֹם, וּבְאֶמֶשׁ כָּךְ שׁוֹאֲלִין בְּשָׁלוֹם, שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל חוֹתְמִין פּוֹרֵס סֻכַּת שָׁלוֹם עַל עַמּוֹ, הַתְּפִלָּה חוֹתְמִין בְּשָׁלוֹם, בְּבִרְכַּת כֹּהֲנִים חוֹתְמִין בְּשָׁלוֹם. אָמַר רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן בֶּן חֲלַפְתָּא אֵין כְּלִי מַחְזִיק בְּרָכָה אֶלָּא שָׁלוֹם, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (תהלים כט, יא): ה' עֹז לְעַמּוֹ יִתֵּן ה' יְבָרֵךְ אֶת עַמּוֹ בַשָּׁלוֹם.
The whole Torah is peace as it is said (Proverbs 3:17) "Her ways are pleasant ways,
And all her paths, peaceful." And if a person comes from the way, you greet him with peace, and also in the morning, you greet in peace, and in the evening, you greet in peace, when you say Shema Yisrael, you seal with "Who spreads the shelter of peace over us and over His people." The Prayer (The Standing Prayer) is sealed in peace. The priestly blessing is sealed in peace. Rabbi Shimon Ben Halafta said: You do not have a vessel that holds Blessing but peace, as it is said "May the LORD grant strength to His people, May the Lord bless His people in peace” (Psalms 29:11).
