אמר שמואל אין קידוש אלא במקום סעודה
Shmuel said: There is no valid kiddush except in the place of one’s Shabbat meal.
Rav Anan bar Taḥalifa said to the students: "Many times I stood before Shmuel, and he descended from the roof to the ground floor and recited kiddush again."
אמר רב יוסף אמר שמואל טעם אינו מקדש טעם אינו מבדיל
ורבה אמר רב נחמן אמר שמואל טעם מקדש וטעם מבדיל
Rav Yosef said: "Shmuel said: 'One who has tasted food before kiddush may not recite kiddush, and one who has tasted food before havdala may not recite havdala.'"
Rabbah said: "Rav Naḥman said: 'Shmuel said: "One who has tasted may nevertheless recite kiddush, and one who has tasted may likewise recite havdala."'"
איתמר נמי אמר רב תחליפא בר אבימי אמר שמואל כשם שאין מקדשין עליו כך אין מבדילין עליו
It was also stated that Rav Taḥalifa bar Avimi said: "Shmuel said: 'Just as one may not recite kiddush over date beer, so one may not recite havdala over it.'"
אָמַר רַב יְהוּדָה אָמַר שְׁמוּאֵל: אֵין הֲלָכָה לֹא כְּרַבִּי יְהוּדָה וְלֹא כְּרַבִּי יוֹסֵי, אֶלָּא פּוֹרֵס מַפָּה וּמְקַדֵּשׁ.
Rav Yehuda said: "Shmuel said: 'The halakha is not in accordance with Rabbi Yehuda, nor is it in accordance with Rabbi Yosei, rather, spread a cloth and recite kiddush.'"
אָמַר רַב תַּחְלִיפָא בַּר אַבְדִּימִי אָמַר שְׁמוּאֵל: כְּשֵׁם שֶׁמַּפְסִיקִין לְקִידּוּשׁכָּךְ מַפְסִיקִין לַהַבְדָּלָה.
Rav Taḥalifa bar Avdimi said: "Shmuel said: 'Just as one interrupts for kiddush, so one interrupts for havdala.'"
אוֹתָם בְּנֵי אָדָם שֶׁקִּידְּשׁוּ בְּבֵית הַכְּנֶסֶת, שְׁמוּאֵל אָמַר אַף יְדֵי קִידּוּשׁ לֹא יָצְאוּ
those people who recited kiddush in the synagogue...Shmuel said: "Even the obligation of kiddush they have not fulfilled."
