This prayer, mentioned in Maseches Sof'rim 17:11 is a collection of 18 verses from Psalms, Chronicles, and Proverbs, in which the Divine Name (הויה) is mentioned 18 times. Great care should be taken to pronounce the "Name" with the utmost concentration, keeping in mind that He is the Supreme Master of all that exists.
יְהִי כְבוֹד יְהֹוָה לְעוֹלָם The glory of Adonoy will endure forever;
יִשְׂמַח יְהֹוָה בְּמַעֲשָׂיו: Adonoy will rejoice in His works.1Psalms 104:31.
יְהִי שֵׁם יְהֹוָה מְבֹרָךְ The Name of Adonoy will be blessed
מֵעַתָּה וְעַד־עוֹלָם: from now forever.
מִמִּזְרַח־שֶֽׁמֶשׁ עַד־מְבוֹאוֹ From the rising of the sun to its setting,
מְהֻלָּל שֵׁם יְהֹוָה: praised is the Name of Adonoy.
רָם עַל־כָּל־גּוֹיִם יְהֹוָה High above all nations is Adonoy,
עַל הַשָּׁמַֽיִם כְּבוֹדוֹ: above the heavens is His glory.2Psalms 113:4.
יְהֹוָה שִׁמְךָ לְעוֹלָם Adonoy, Your Name3God's “Name” is the name spelled Yud-Hey-Vuv-Hey. is forever,
יְהֹוָה זִכְרְ֒ךָ לְדֹר־וָדֹר: Adonoy, Your Mention4God's “mention” is the name spelled Alef-Daled-Nun-Yud. In this world God's name is only written as Y-H-V-H but is pronouced Adonoy. In the future world, however, God's Name will be pronounced as it is written. Thus the Psalmist means: “Your Name is eternal, but Your mention is solely from generation to generation.—Siach Yitzchok is for generations.5Psalms 135:13.
יְהֹוָה בַּשָּׁמַֽיִם הֵכִין כִּסְאוֹ Adonoy has established His throne in heaven,
וּמַלְכוּתוֹ בַּכֹּל מָשָֽׁלָה: [but] His dominion rules over all.6Psalms 103:19.
יִשְׂמְחוּ הַשָּׁמַֽיִם וְתָגֵל הָאָֽרֶץ The heavens will rejoice, the earth will exult,
וְיֹאמְ֒רוּ בַגּוֹיִם and they will proclaim among the nations:
יְהֹוָה מָלָךְ: Adonoy has begun His reign.7I Chronicles 16:31.
יְהֹוָה מֶֽלֶךְ יְהֹוָה מָלָךְ Adonoy is King, Adonoy was King;
יְהֹוָה יִמְלֹךְ לְעֹלָם וָעֶד: Adonoy will be King forever and ever."
יְהֹוָה מֶֽלֶךְ עוֹלָם וָעֶד Adonoy will reign for all eternity
אָבְ֒דוּ גוֹיִם [when] nations have perished
מֵאַרְצוֹ: from His earth.8Psalms 10:16.
יְהֹוָה הֵפִיר עֲצַת־גּוֹיִם Adonoy annuls the counsel of nations,
הֵנִיא מַחְשְׁבוֹת עַמִּים: He disrupts the intention of peoples.9Psalms 33:10.
רַבּוֹת מַחֲשָׁבוֹת בְּלֶב־אִישׁ Many thoughts are in the heart of man,
וַעֲצַת יְהֹוָה הִיא תָקוּם: but [only] Adonoy's counsel will endure.10Proverbs 19:21.
עֲצַת יְהֹוָה לְעוֹלָם תַּעֲמֹד The counsel of Adonoy will stand forever,
מַחְשְׁבוֹת לִבּוֹ the thoughts of His heart
לְדֹר וָדֹר: throughout all generations.11Psalms 33:11.
כִּי הוּא אָמַר וַיֶּֽהִי For He spoke and it came to be;
הוּא־צִוָּה וַיַּעֲמֹד: He commanded and it stood.12Psalms 33:9.
כִּי בָחַר יְהֹוָה בְּצִיּוֹן For Adonoy has chosen Zion;
אִוָּהּ לְמוֹשָׁב לוֹ: He desired it for His dwelling place.13Psalms 132:13.
כִּי־יַעֲקֹב בָּחַר לוֹ יָהּ For God chose Jacob to be His,
יִשְׂרָאֵל לִסְגֻלָּתוֹ: Israel for His treasure.14Psalms 135:4.
כִּי לֹא יִטּשׁ יְהֹוָה עַמּוֹ For Adonoy will not cast off His people,
וְנַחֲלָתוֹ לֹא יַעֲזֹב: and His inheritance, He will not abandon.15Psalms 94:13.
וְהוּא רַחוּם And He, the Merciful One,
יְכַפֵּר עָוֹן וְלֹא־יַשְׁחִית atones iniquity; and does not destroy.
וְהִרְבָּה לְהָשִׁיב אַפּוֹ He frequently withdraws His anger
וְלֹא־יָעִיר כָּל־חֲמָתוֹ: and does not arouse all His rage.16Psalms 78:38.
יְהֹוָה הוֹשִׁיעָה Adonoy, deliver [us!]
הַמֶּֽלֶךְ יַעֲנֵֽנוּ בְיוֹם־קָרְאֵֽנוּ: The King will answer us on the day we call.17Psalms 20:10.
