וַיְכֻלּוּ הַשָּׁמַֽיִם וְהָאָֽרֶץ And the heavens and the earth were completed
וְכָל־צְבָאָם: and [so were] all their hosts.
וַיְכַל אֱלֹהִים בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁ֒בִיעִי And God completed by the seventh day
מְלַאכְתּוֹ אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה. His work which He had done,
וַיִּשְׁבֹּת בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁ֒בִיעִי and He abstained on the seventh day,
מִכָּל־מְלַאכְתּוֹ אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה: from all His work which He had done.
וַיְבָֽרֶךְ אֱלֹהִים אֶת־יוֹם הַשְּׁ֒בִיעִי And God blessed the seventh day
וַיְקַדֵּשׁ אֹתוֹ. and sanctified it
כִּי בוֹ שָׁבַת for on it He abstained
מִכָּל־מְלַאכְתּוֹ from all His work
אֲשֶׁר־בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים לַעֲשׂוֹת: which God had created to do.
The following prayer, בְּרָכָה מֵעֵין שֶׁבַע the abridged form of the seven blessings of the Maariv Shemoneh Esrei, is said only by the Chazzan. This prayer is not said if the first night of Passover occurs on Friday night. It is also not recited when prayers are held in the house of a bridegroom or in the house of a mourner. It is to be said only in a place that has been designated as a permanent place of prayer.
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה Blessed are You, Adonoy,
אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ our God and God of our fathers,
אֱלֹהֵי אַבְרָהָם אֱלֹהֵי יִצְחָק God of Abraham, God of Isaac,
וֵאלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹב and God of Jacob;
הָאֵל the Almighty,
הַגָּדוֹל הַגִּבּוֹר וְהַנּוֹרָא. the Great, the Powerful, the Awesome,
אֵל עֶלְיוֹן the most high Almighty,
קוֹנֵה שָׁמַֽיִם וָאָֽרֶץ: Possessor of heaven and earth.
The congregation may recite the following paragraph, which should then be repeated aloud and in its entirety by the Chazzan.
