Tishrei
The first month in the Jewish calendar and the seventh in the biblical calendar.

It is taught
in a
baraita
that the
tanna’im
disagreed about this point:
Rabbi Eliezer says: In Tishrei the world was created; in Tishrei the Patriarchs were born; in Tishrei the Patriarchs died; on Passover Isaac was born; on Rosh HaShana Sarah, Rachel, and Hannah were remembered
by God and conceived;
on Rosh HaShana Joseph came out from prison;
Rosh Hashanah 10b:10
One does not intercalate for a year before New Year’s Day; if they did intercalate it would be invalid. But for an urgent need one may intercalate immediately after New Year’s Day. Nevertheless, only Adar is intercalated. Rebbi says, Nisan never was lengthened. But did we not state: “If the New Moon appeared in time”? If it would appear, it did not appear. Rav said, Tishre was never lengthened. But did we not state: “If the month was long”? If it would be, it never was.
Jerusalem Talmud Nedarim 6:8:9
The Gemara explains these matters in detail:
It is taught
in a
baraita
that
Rabbi Eliezer says: From where
is it derived
that the world was created in
the month of
Tishrei? As it is stated: “And God said: Let the earth bring forth grass, herb yielding seed, and fruit tree yielding fruit after its kind”
(Genesis 1:11).
Which is the month in which the earth brings forth grass and the trees are full of
ripe
fruit? You must say
that
this is Tishrei…
Rosh Hashanah 11a:3
Rabbi Ḥiyya bar Abba in the name of Rabbi Levi began: “People are nothingness; men are but deceit; they rise together on a scale, lighter than nothingness” (Psalms 62:10). According to the way of the world, what do people say? So-and-so man shall marry so-and-so woman – [but] “people are nothingness.” So-and-so woman will be married to so-and-so man – but “men are but deceit.” “They rise together on a scale, lighter than nothingness.” Rabbi Ḥiyya said: While they are still nothingness in their mother’s womb, they are together…
Vayikra Rabbah 29:8
AND THE WATERS DECREASED CONTINUALLY UNTIL THE TENTH MONTH. This verse is to be interpreted by transposition: the waters decreased continually until the tops of the mountains were seen in the tenth month, which is the month of Tammuz. Scripture thus informs us that during seventy-three days the waters decreased fifteen cubits. But we do not know the amount of the original decrease which enabled the ark to rest since Scripture did not find it necessary to inform us either of the number of cubits that the ark was submerged in the waters or of the amount of the decrease…
Ramban on Genesis 8:5:1
Another matter, “in the seventh month” – Rabbi Berekhya would call it the month of the oath, for in it the Holy One blessed be He took an oath to Abraham our patriarch of blessed memory. That is what is written: “He said: I have taken an oath by Myself, the utterance of the Lord” (Genesis 22:16). What need was there for an oath? Rav Beivai bar Abaye said in the name of Rabbi Yoḥanan: Abraham our patriarch stood in prayer and supplication before the Holy One blessed be He and said before Him: ‘Master of the universe…
Vayikra Rabbah 29:9
The old man then proceeded to discourse on the verse: “Blow the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed on our solemn feast-day” (Ps. 81, 4). He said: ‘Now is the time when the mighty supernal judgement is awakened, and with it the “other side” also gathers force. And with this access of force it ascends and veils the Moon that She may no more shine, and She falls entirely under the influence of stern Justice. Then all the worlds and spheres come under the aegis of judgement, both celestial and terrestrial beings, and a herald makes proclamation throughout all the firmaments…
Zohar, Tetzaveh 11:88
And Rabbi Yitzḥak said: A man is judged only according to his deeds at the time
of his judgment, and not according to his future deeds,
as it is stated
with regard to Ishmael:
“For God has heard the voice of the lad where he is”
(Genesis 21:17). Although Ishmael and his descendants would act wickedly in the future, his prayer was heard and answered because he was innocent at the time.
