A child prodigy from a Chasidic family in Poland, Rabbi Meir Dan Plotsky was sent away to study Torah at the age of nine. He studied under Rabbi Avrohm Bornsztain, the first Sochatchover Rebbe, and considered him his lifelong teacher. Plotsky held the rabbinate of several communities while devoting much time to Jewish communal affairs more generally.
