Megilalt Eifah is a work by Rabbi Shabbatai Hakohen, known as the Shakh, describing the atrocities of a 1648 massacre against Jews in Uman. The author described how 1500 Jews chose to be murdered rather than convert to Christianity, reciting the Shema upon their death.
