MISHNAH: If he basted it with heave oil, if there is a group of priests, they shall eat it. If of Israel57For whom consumption of heave is a deadly sin., if it is raw he shall soak it, if roasted he has to peel off the outside. If he basted it with oil of Second Tithe58Which is property of the farmer, to be eaten in purity at the place of the Temple. Second Tithe may be redeemed outside of Jerusalem, with the sanctity of the produce transferred to the money which has to be spent on pure food in Jerusalem. There is neither redemption nor sale of Second Tithe in Jerusalem., he may not charge the members of the group for it since one may not sell Second Tithe in Jerusalem.
HALAKHAH: He only said “basted”. Therefore, if he immersed it, it is forbidden59Either this means that if the lamb absorbed too much of the oil, no Israel will be allowed to eat from it in any way. Or it may be that טִיבְּלוֹ stands for תִּיבְּלוֹ “spiced it”, when it will be forbidden to everybody since the spices cover the taste of the lamb’s meat.. A person cooked a chicken using oil to be burned60“Oil to be burned” is impure heave oil. While it may not be consumed, it may be used by a Cohen as fuel. Use as fuel by an Israel is stealing from the Cohanim. R. Bisna’s order has to be classified as imposing a fíne.. He came and asked Rebbi Bisna, who told him, go and cook it in water for an extended period.
