About This Text
Imrei Da'at is a philosophical commentary on the book of Proverbs by Rabbi Zerahiah ben Shealtiel Ḥen, completed in Rome in 1288. The work represents the approach of late 13th-century Spanish Jewish philosophy, incorporating linguistic analysis drawn from the author's native Arabic, as well as philosophical perspectives influenced by Aristotelian thought and the writings of Maimonides. Published in the periodical HaShacḥar, the commentary exemplifies the synthesis of Jewish tradition with medieval philosophical inquiry characteristic of the period.
